1   Uma variante do CONDITIONAL TYPE 1 - aqui designada por TYPE 1a - é empregue para exprimir uma condição que é sempre verdadeira ou habitual.

 
 
 

2   Esta variante tem a forma de:

 

IF  +  PRESENT SIMPLE  +  PRESENT SIMPLE

Exemplos:

• If you drop an egg, it breaks.

• Se deixares cair um ovo, ele parte-se.

• If water freezes, it expands.

• Se a água congelar, ela expande-se.

• If you mix red and yellow, you get orange.

• Se misturares o vermelho e o amarelo, tens a cor laranja.

• If the wind blows from the south, the living room is very cold.

• Se o vento soprar do sul, a sala de estar fica muito fria.

• If someone knocks on the door, he never answers it.

• Se alguém bater à porta, ele nunca vai ver quem lá está.
